Sydney Metro is Australia’s biggest public transport project providing a new standalone rail network which will deliver new Metro stations and more than 88km of new Metro rail across Sydney’s key growth areas.

A W Edwards has been awarded the contract to build Sydney Metro’s new Crows Nest Station. It will be delivered as part of the Sydney Metro City & Southwest stage of the Sydney Metro project extending services from the end of Sydney Metro Northwest at Chatswood, under Sydney Harbour and city through to Bankstown.

Crows Nest Station will be situated on the eastern side of the Pacific Highway between Oxley Street and south of Hume Street and between the Pacific Highway and Clark Lane. It has been strategically located to the south of the existing station at St Leonard’s and close to the leisure and retail strip along Willoughby Road to enhance connectivity to the existing transport network and local precinct.

The works include:

• construction of underground rail platforms and concourse
• construction of above ground two storey station buildings with entry via Pacific Highway and Clarke Street
• fit out of station interior and external facade
• upgraded public domain integrating the new station buildings into the local surrounds
• upgraded cyclist and pedestrian connections
• new kiss-and-ride and taxi bays on Clarke and Oxley streets
• relocation of two bus stops on the Pacific Highway.

The station build is expected to be complete late 2023. Other contractors engaged to fit out the tunnels, station doors and other mechanical and electrical components will work simultaneously to ensure all station works are complete at this time.
